Should I Choose Veneers, Lumineers, or Teeth Whitening?March 29, 2023 8:28 pm
Veneers, Lumineers, and teeth whitening are three possible cosmetic treatments that can enhance the appearance of your smile.
What Can Veneers Fix?
Dental veneers is a versatile treatment that can correct a number of different aesthetic issues with teeth, including uneven shape and length, severe discoloration, small gaps, and chips. Veneers are thin, custom-made shells that we bond to the outside surface of your teeth to permanently change their appearance. Because the underlying tooth enamel must be altered, this procedure is considered permanent.
Veneers are a great option for patients who have multiple cosmetic concerns they want to fix at once, or who have such serious staining that teeth whitening hasn’t been effective.
Should I Get Lumineers?
Lumineers are very similar to veneers and can fix the same types of problems by covering the outside of teeth with super-thin shells of tooth-colored material. Lumineers, however, are thinner and thus require less preparation to put on. While they don’t have as long of a lifespan as veneers, they do not have to be permanent and can be removed if a patient does not want them anymore.
Lumineers are a suitable option for patients who are looking for a more affordable option than veneers but are OK with the trade-off that they may need to be replaced sooner.
Professional Teeth Whitening
Even just changing its color can dramatically improve your smile’s appearance and your confidence. Professional teeth whitening can temporarily boost the whiteness of your teeth by multiple shades.
Teeth whitening is best for patients who want to tackle discoloration but are otherwise happy with the shape, size, and spacing of their teeth or if veneers and Lumineers don’t currently fit in your budget.
